The Saver

To describe this screensaver briefly: after a frigthening foreplay a dozen of cows will forever rain down your screen.

Installation

No installer is included with the download but to install the screensaver you can follow these instructions:

A screensaver (which is a file ending with .scr) needs to be placed in your c:\windows\ directory (or wherever you have installed windows). Once the file is there you should be able to open up your Display Properties and select the Screensaver tab and find the screensaver in the list of screensavers. Here's a step-by-step guide:

Requires Win95/98

Place the cowsaver.scr in your windows folder (i.e c:\windows\)

Open up your Display Properties by either:

Right clicking with the mouse somewhere on the desktop and choose properties.
Going Start/Settings/Controll_Panel | double-click Display icon

Select the screensaver tab and choose cowsaver from the list

Troubleshooting/Tips

PROBLEM: The scrensaver wont start/doesn't work or when the screensaver starts an error msg "missing file" appears.
SOLUTION: Download vb40032.dll from any simtelnet mirror or microsofts website (if you can find it there) or from pcpinball.com.

PROBLEM: When clicking the screensaver settings button found on the screensaver tab the screensaver launches, no settings are displayed.
SOLUTION: There are no settings to be made anyway so if this happens, simply don't click the settings button if you find it annoying that the saver launches when you do so!

PROBLEM: The screensaver only aborts when I move the mouse to the bottom left corner of the screen.
SOLUTION: I'm afraid that is the only way to abort the saver. This is because I wrote the screensaver in vb and couldn't figure out how to make the screensaver abort smoothly when the mouse was moved. The second version of this screensaver (which is a completely separate screensaver instead of a version 2.0) works like most normal screensavers and aborts directly on mouse move.
