Rules
You should have read through these rules before you submit a score. If you haven't you wont know how or what is needed to submit. These are more ethics than rules but you must follow them. It actually is impossible to have a hiscore list without rules. If you still have questions, see the FAQ.
The Rules
Table Settings (general guidance for table settings)
What I mean above is that these hiscore lists list hiscores that the player got when playing a normal game (use you common sence for what you belive is normal). Most pinballs allow changing number of balls, tilt sensitivity... if you wish to change those settings I have no problem with that. (that is usually all you can change) The score is still comparable worldwide, this is not real pinballs, the table wont get torn, the objects wont malfunction and whatever so that the scores played on one AFM (a real pinball) is not comparable to one on another AFM. The hiscore list now allows submissions for all the different playing modes the pinball offers, thus if a pinball allows choice between for example Easy, Medium, Hard, Tournament, Challenge, Normal playing modes, then you submit your score for the corresponding mode, if a pinball for some reason does not allow submission for all the different playing modes please inform me of this by email (meanwhile, until the hiscore list for that pinball has been updated to allow submission for the different modes, only send in factory default tournament settings scores). In the comments field (which is available on the page where you submit your score), please write if you played with 5 balls or 3 balls, what version of the pinball you played and similar, also feel free to give some briefer summary of your game (strategys etc), all this helps to verify your score and make it more comparable to the other titles in the list. Maybe a sheet with TS (Tournament Settings) for all pinball titles in the hiscore list will eventually be worked out, but until then the rules given here are the ones that apply (and the rules here are meant to be quite general so that everyone can participate). Remember that just because a beginner uses 10balls, a pro using 3 balls still win because pinball is a game of skill. Maybe... Ofcourse the score becomes less comparable if one score was achived with 3 balls and one with 10 balls, but skill is still involved, as such not all pinball titles are broken up into number of balls you play with. Generally if you are uncertain what number of balls the other players in the hiscore list played with, gor for the hardest setting (least number of balls)! Always use factory default settings if such is available (few pinball sims support this setting though). I for example might not change much more in older pinballs than, number of balls from 3 to 5 (though if I play with 5 balls I generally point so out when submitting the score, unless the pinball I submit allows me to specifically submit the hiscore so that it is listed under a 3 balls heading, how this works should be obvious once you try to use the submit page). In timeshock! I play using the different playing styles and only submit factory default scores to the corresponding playing mode (grand champion, tournament, buyin etc). In bos I play in normal mode and thus submit normal mode scores (because normal mode is a preset mode in the pinball everone who play in normal mode will play at the same difficulty level). ETC, GET IT? This is simply a place where you can publish your all time best score in a pinball simulation, a score you are really proud of!!! And then others do the same and push you down the list and you begin playing the pinball again to beat that idiot who pushed you down.
Verification It is recommended that you save a copy of the hiscorefile (see the FAQ for information on hiscore files) for the pinball title for which you submit an hiscore (if you submit a really high hiscore that will rank among the top 3 this is recommended, otherwise it is not as important). You - when submitting a hiscore - agree to letting me send you an email asking for a hiscore verification of the score you just submitted to the list. If you, when I inquire you for a hiscore file, fail to supply me with one your hiscore is likely to be removed. I hope this is ok...
