On Recent/Upcomming Releases Original Publishing Date (y/m/d): 2001-02-03 As I haven't really been updating the news page so closely the past months I thought I'd try to summarize the news I've read and been told of by email (thx to everyone who has send me emails keeping me updated with what's happening as I haven't been doing that so well myself). Well, let's start with the latest news that I think are new for this week. Digital Extremes are working on a pinball title based on the engine used for Unreal Tournament (UT) (which they co-created), the title is called Adventure Pinball: Forgotten Island and will be published by Electronic Arts. To my surprise when I visit Digital Extremes homepage I find out that they were the creators/developers of Epic Pinball and Extreme Pinball (did you know epic was written entirely in assembly?), for some reason I have always thought Epic Megagames were the developers, they were ofcourse just the publishers. Well, I guess it can be fun to see a new pinball released by the creators of the good old Super Android table! ;) Fun even though the few screenshots available (of the alpha version of the title I believe) look more or less mediocre as they somewhat bring into mind the likes of the 3dup series. Though as Pinball Prelude exists to prove that great pinball games (not sims) can be made, maybe this title will turn out to be fun.
Another interesting title I've been hearing about (for a while now actually, though this is the first I've written about it I think) is KISS Pinball released by good old Wildfire Studious (to which I apologize for not yet having reviewed Devils Island, even though they were kind enough to send me a review copy). The title I've been told uses the same engine as Balls of Steel. Opinions about this title seem to be fairly positive. Visit Wildfire Studious for more information. Don't think I've written anything about this one either. Encore Software has released a new pinball package, not unexpectedly it is called "Pinball Madness 3". It includes the follwing:
Interesting mix I guess, the table listed after the first dot are all based on the 2UP engine by NMS (I think, not sure). Check Encore Software's homepage for more information. Here's a link to a webpinball site I've been recomended: quadgames.com (2 shockwave pinballs). This is also a webpinball, though the site is quite serious and focused entierly on the webpinball with hiscore ranking lists etc. for it. The site is, PinBrawl! Otherwise, still no word from Cunning on a new pro pinball. I received an email stating the obvious lack of a new pro pinball quite good: "Heard anything from our friends at Cunning Development? Usually by now we have lost patience with their latest release that is 4 months overdue?" Yet even more otherwise if anyone is interested I have recently been moving into a little student apartment (which partly is why there haven't been so many updates, don't get me wrong though, I'm also a little lazy on updates nowadays ;)) and am now spending my time studying mathematics and computer science. Well, I've probably missed mentioning something in this article so |
