August...

Happy month, build me a new computer, yes I did, PIII 450, all my pinballs feels like new ones now. BRUSA runs smooooooth and in hi hi hi res! (sorry) ;)

Pin-Ball Games Ltd (PGL) recently released a new pinball bundle called "Pinball Revolution" which contains two tables Avengers and Roswell (I mention this in the last months editorial). Here is some comments on the pinball, thanks to Mark for letting me publish them here!

Debate/Comments: Pinball Revolution

Well, I finally got a chance to play it a little now. The Avengers has some of the PGL feel - the little inset of the plunger and the wide apart flippers and the countdown of the bonus after each ball and the comment about an extra ball at 250,000,000 before the 5th ball. But the flipper space doesn't seem to be as big a problem like the ST Pinball. There are lots of modes and table effects. There are Steed and Mrs. Peel voices and hints of the theme music. I think they did better with the Avengers than they did with Star Trek as far as relating to the original show.

That said, Roswell Pinball is kind of a surprise. It has an entirely different feel than the usual PGL product. It reminds me more of a Pinball Illusions in 3D. You don't have the inset of the plunger and the flippers feel different. So far, haven't discovered as near as many modes as Avengers and the table seems limited, but I enjoy the music - it reminds me of the future table on Pinball Prelude.

Bottom line - it is no Pro Pinball, but I think it is an improvement on the original PGL product and is interesting. I would recommend getting it. Of course, I have been playing some Simon the Sorcerer and Judge Dredd for a little variety, so what do I know? And have played quite a bit of BRUSA as well and have grown to like it a lot better, but T! still rules the roost in my book.

One of the funniest jokes this year must be the Evolution Joke, courtesy of PPPC (Pro Pinball Players Center). Check it out on the History Page.

Some notes about Fantastic Journey (the next pp title), it will not feature a H2H mode as the previous title in the series (BRUSA) did, this because the developers wanted to focus on the single play. The pinball will introduce a color dmd (can be turned of though).

A sad news fact came out this month, Wildfire Studious (developers of balls of steel) will be shutting down and the team will be splitting itself up, the add-on table "Devil's Island" for BOS will though be finished and released first.

Until next month...

Happy Flipping! and may the force be with you (Star Wars premiered in Sweden this month)
