2003 Editorial of void between March 2000 and June 2003 Original Publishing Date (y/m/d): UNION(2000-05-01,2003-06-18) 1997 - August - September - October - November - December - 1998 - January - February - March - April - May - June - July - August - September - October - November - December - 1999 - January - February - March - April - May - June - July - August - September - October - November - 2000 - Dec/Jan/Feb - March - 2001 - 2002 - 2003 - Ok, to embrace the cliche I'll now ironize the fact I haven't written a single of these monthly editorals for a little while, but I never used to manage to be monthly with them anyhow, I just altered the publishing dates on them to make it seem so (ofcourse I don't do that anymore), anyhow... let's start over. Oh, heh, missed a couple of months there. So anyway to continue on the last editorial, which was march 2000... wait a minute, I don't have a "#¤ clue what was in it, so let's guess shall we? I probably wrote something about what pinballs were slated for release in the forthcomming months and wrote about releases that had occured recently, and I probably also wrote some funny sentences and clever ancedotes (whatever that is). Now, that was fun, let's move on. I've recently found myself doing something very strange, I've been playing pinballs on my computer?? Haven't really done that for about thee or four years I think, incidentally I haven't really updated this ectoplasmicly dragoninfested green site for about the same amount of time. Even more of a coincidence that's about the time, back in time, to the last pro pinball release, something we're not likely to ever see again (at least not by the same team), Erik Mooney summarized those chances quite well recently on the PPPC mailing list, he wrote: "The publisher, Empire Interactive, gave up on the franchise after Big Race USA didn't sell as well as they wanted. Cunning Developments managed to convince them to publish the fourth game, Fantastic Journey, but that got no marketing support at all and thus of course didn't sell well, and after that Cunning had no more publisher support for the PP games." And now two of the founding members of Cunning Developments have left and started their own company... Anyhow, about a month back I received a review copy of Iridon Software's Pure Pinball and was about to continue not playing pinball especially much again, while it was a set of quite visually stunning pinball tables the feeling was rather mediocre and the table themes not really in my taste (there's a review up of it on the reviews page, I thought I should perhaps play it out a little more before reviewing it since I haven't really played one of the tables that much as it bugs out on me when I start a multiball, but I guess I have to face the truth, I don't really like the pinball, it's ok with halfgood/mediocre feeling but I don't feel myself immersed in it especially much, more bored, so why do I say it's ok? uh well... it's just a word, look at the whole sentence :)). Anyhow, some days ago I found myself playing a table for more than an hour, it was WildSnake Pinball: Soccer *****, a absolutely not action packed superpinball table, rather a very simplisticly layed out table with one single goal, to shoot the pinball in a goal (pun sort of intended). So why the joy in playing? The feeeling, it's great, I love it and am really looking forward to their next table which I've come to understand will feature a more complex theme and table layout. Well, it'll be interesting. The team behind this pinball is some of the same people that brought you Microsoft Pinball Arcade, though this pinball is released independently without the involvement of any publishers, it will only be sold online through their website (while I wont lay claim on the layout I'll happily take responsibility for the code behind that site :)). ...let's start over again for the unusuality of doing it and since it will space out this text, space is important, how could we otherwise fit in this world, use the space button as much as you possibly can, each time you do you are adding more space to this universe of ours (just dissprove it if you can and watch out for the end button)... Hi! It's strange, but according to my logg stats people still visit this site, most popular sections beeing the msgboard and the hiscore list, so I'd like to give a thanks to you moderators who help keep those parts working, Havocc and Rick Maultra! And also to all regulars who keep the board interesting! Ofcourse I could direct a big thanks to all other visitors too, but nah... :) I've noticed some questionmarks in emails and on the msgboard concerning the lifestatus of this site, "Is this the end?", "is it alive", "death of tower of pin", "are you alive", "Are you DEAD?" (wow, someone cares about me :)). Well, I wonder those things too sometimes when sitting in a dark cornern muttering to myself, could someone please answer them for me? The msgboard sure has been a strange but also, I like to think, a heavenly place. Comming to mind was a streak during last year (I think), some sanitarium containing schizofrean (howdoyouspellit) people had a big magic door open up in the wall letting people out to pose like me (using my name, clever dudes) on the msgboard writing things (with comments) such as "Anyway, I am now cured of pinball madness thank god" (that's one madness less for you I guess...), "Hey! It's me Sam!!" (nono, try again, you might get it right...), maybe there were some more but those are either deleted or ones I have no funny comments for. topic: site On the topic of sites (wow, good thing it was brought up), I've since january found lots of time to work on a different version of this site, the major new feature of this new version (which isn't expected to ever be made available online, this since I've told so many people during the recent years "I'm working on this feature, I expect it to be done..." and that hasn't really happened, but this time it will, I just don't expect it to). I've incidentally noticed those blue menus no longer show on every page, I expect to fix that soon. Then (back to the msgboard) there was all the fun with me dissallowing by script posts (I think it is still on, not sure?) containing the beautiful word "Space Cadet", and every SC fan around seemed to post messages with imaginative respellings of the word, some were (again with comments): S.PaCE C.aDeT (lame newbie brain at work), Space Caddet (ggoodd oonnee), Spave Cadet (that's what it should've been called I agree)... those weren't so funny, I just feld like making fun of things, I'll stop now before someone gets angry at my bad humor. Before finishing, I'll write something nice, I'm really glad there's so many people who seem to find use of this decadent site! [END] hey, you didn't finish that sentence about new features of the new site version, what are[END][END] why is there no begin button on the keyb[END][END][END][END] |
